It’s time to think about next year’s Homecoming. That’s right. Because Homecoming weekend will be early, September 23-24, Student Council adviser Mrs. Nicole Keller has announced that Homecoming candidates for next year will be selected in May of this year.
“Because Homecoming will be very early this year, there is a lot of prep working that needs to be done such as submitting biographies on the candidates and ordering t-shirts for the Homecoming court,” said Mrs. Keller. This is a first for Saegertown as far as anyone can remember.
“I do not think it is really a big deal to have Homecoming earlier,” said junior Ben Berger. Voting for court will take place toward the end of May according to Mrs. Keller. The current juniors will select six boys and girls to represent them in the fall. Junior Chris DeJohn has mixed feelings about the move: “I think it is a plus because the Homecoming football game will be earlier. I also think it is a negative because we have to vote this year, and people can change over the summer.”
