On December 16, the Saegertown bowling team competed at Seneca Lanes in Cranberry as the Panthers competed in the Ven-Craw high school bowling league. The match was different for the bowlers, as it was the first time in Ven-Craw’s six-year history that bowlers competed in three games of singles competition where normally the bowlers bowl only two games of singles competition.
The Panthers did well in their match, placing second and moving up from sixth in match one to fourth in match four in the overall standings after starting off the year in a slump. The Panthers received twenty-three points for the match, the lower the grand total the better.
Games one, two, and three in individuals resulted in three, two, and five points with combined totals of 857, 897, and 788. The baker team games resulted in five, two, and three points based on where the Panthers placed for that one game against the other thirteen teams with a combined three game team total of 570.
“I’m definitely happy with the results of the last match,” junior Kylee Higby said. “We moved up to fourth in the overall standings after we were in sixth for a couple weeks.”
Of the eighty bowlers in the league, Michael Costello is currently in second, Nick Archacki fifth, Kylee Higby twenty-first, Austin Bedow thirty-fifth, Scott Proper seventy-third, and Alex Kightlinger seventy-ninth.
Their next match will be Thursday, December 28 at Plaza Lanes in Meadville at 6 p.m. Follow the Panther Press on Twitter @PantherPressSHS.
And good luck to Nick Archacki who leaves for Las Vegas on Jan. 1 to attend the Team USA trials. Panther Press will be following his progress.
