Staff Sergeant Armstrong shares ‘experience and knowledge’ with students

By Amanda Crowl, Features Editor

Army Staff Sergeant Greg Armstrong, a graduate of Maplewood High School, has been at Saegertown Highschool presenting to study skill classes with Ms. Kerry Reagle since the beginning of October. He will continue his visits each Thursday for five weeks. “He brings with him a lot of experience and knowledge about the armed forces,” Reagle said.

Armstrong has talked about distracted driving, anti-bullying, personality traits, and military rations. Next week he will be talking about STEM careers. He was selected by the Army to come and talk to these students as part of his recruiting duties. “Very few get selected to do this job, so it makes you look very competitive against your peers,” Armstrong said. He shared that one of his goals is to spread the word about what the Army can offer.

Reagle is excited to have him in her class and she wishes he could stay longer. “I would like to see if he could come back in the Spring; he gives students something to look forward to.”
