Fun in the sun!

Summer is on its way, and it is coming fast. But every summer you eventually encounter the same problem—boredom. Obviously after doing the same things you do every summer, the days will start to feel repetitive and dry, which could ruin your whole summer. I hear you asking, how can I make my summer enjoyable and unique? Well, here are a few things you can do to spice up your summer.

Try making up your games. Hide and seek and tag are classic fun games, but after playing them for the one-millionth time, it starts to get old. You may also feel as if you are getting too old to be playing such childish games and want to break away from that while still having fun. One suggestion is to make regular things you and your peers enjoy into a game. For example, if you enjoy cooking with friends, maybe you can have a cooking competition, or you can cook a series of different dishes and see who excels better with different foods. Perhaps you enjoy art and animation; if so, you can play a game where you have to make a piece of animation but each person has to do it in a different style. Whatever you enjoy doing just in general, you can turn that into a game.

If you are having trouble making up your games, here’s some ideas:

Try making a flashlight heist. You need at least four people to play, and they need to be split into two teams. Team one defends an object and the other team needs to steal it and get out of the house without getting caught. It’s kinda like capturing the flag while spicing it up, but I’ll leave that up to you.

Try a friend group manhunt. You can have as many seekers as you want, but try sticking to two or three just to make it easier for the hiders. It honestly depends on how many people are playing. Everyone must turn on their location so you can see where everyone is; you do this to make it fair for the seeker. And if you get caught, you turn off your location and join the seekers. Seekers having their location off keeps you on your toes and makes the game more engaging. Also, try setting up boundaries so people don’t go too far. A smaller area makes the game much more fun but not too small.

But what if you wanna do something by yourself? Well, maybe you could seek new hobbies and test out new things. Explore, play a new video game, try a summer sport, or maybe just do what you do normally but try it a little differently. Like if you enjoy drawing, maybe try painting or different forms of art styles. Check out areas near you that you haven’t been to yet like a local store. There are so many different ways to fill up your summer.

An issue that often contradicts all these things is your personal life. A lot of people don’t have time to hang out with friends or don’t have time to plan things out. Maybe work gets in the way or a sudden family situation pops up. Whatever it is, my piece of advice is to take advantage of whatever free time you have. Even if it’s one day a week, enjoy the time you have so you can get the most out of it.

I hope I was able to help you spark a few ideas for this summer. You don’t have to do any of the things I listed but hopefully, I’ve at least been inspired to try something new this upcoming summer.
